Schloss Gottorf, Schleswig, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
Conference
‘The princesses of the lands. Scope for action in the area of conflict between dynasty, family and individual’ - The conference at Gottorf Castle is being organised jointly by the Schleswig-Holstein State Museums Foundation and the Department of Regional History at Kiel University. It will be led by Prof Dr Oliver Auge and Dr Uta Kuhl. For two days, the ‘princesses’ - queens and duchesses - will take centre stage. They may not have ‘shaped’ the history of Schleswig-Holstein, Denmark and Sweden as visibly as the princes, but they nevertheless played a decisive role in it. The presentations will introduce individual princesses and shed light on the room for manoeuvre they had. The conference begins on Thursday 13 January 2022 at 09:30 and ends on Friday 14 January 2022 at around 18:00. It offers 20 lectures and an additional concert for harpsichord and organ on Thursday evening. Conference fee: 13 January (with snack, evening lecture and concert): 25 €; 14 January (with snack): 15 €, both days together 35 €, students and members of the Freundeskreis Schloss Gottorf pay half. Register by 15 December 2021 by email <service@landesmuseen.sh> or phone 04621 813-222.
